More than 3 300 streetlight-related requests fixed over 14 days
14 November 2024
City energy teams fixed 3 308 streetlight-related requests between 23 October 2024 and 5 November 2024 as part of the streetlight focus initiative that was launched earlier in the year to enhance turnaround times.
‘I am so proud of the progress that has been made with improving our turnaround times for resolving streetlight-related faults, attending to more than 3 300 requests in just 14 days.
‘This comes after a number of key operational interventions that the City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department have implemented. I also continue to visit electrical maintenance and streetlight projects across the metro. Theft and vandalism still remains at abnormal levels in certain areas, having far reaching implications particularly on our limited financial and human resources as well as affecting the comfort of our communities.
‘So let’s continue to act to protect our power to create safer and brighter communities,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Alderman Xanthea Limberg.

*Note: the data looks at all streetlight-related service requests closed over a particular two-week period. Data is dynamic and new requests are constantly added to the already logged requests, as well as historic service requests. The data looks only at streetlight-related requests and does not include other energy service requests attended to over the period in review.
